The Kodi media player (formerly XBMC) is an open source media player from the XBMC Foundation that lets users play all kinds of audio and video files as well as view still images. Kodi features an intuitive interface that's been specially designed for use from a smartphone screen. Kodi also includes convenient functions like access to weather reports.
One of Kodi's best features is its extensibility. Add-ons are available to integrate Kodi with platforms like SoundCloud, Crackle and Sky News. Other add-ons include games, web interfaces, context-sensitive menus and a whole host of other features and functions. The ability to customize it so deeply is what sets Kodi apart from the competition; you can take the base application and shape it until it's the most powerful internet-connected media app you've ever used.
It's important to note that the Kodi app is only a media player. It does not come with any audio or video files and Kodi is not responsible for the the licensing or legality of content viewed on the platform. Kodi was developed by the XBMC Foundation and functions on Android devices with Android OS version 5.0 (Lollipop) and up. It takes up 82.79 MB on your smartphone.
